Stories of Giving & Receiving
We are thrilled to share VFFF's new podcast: Stories of Giving & Receiving.
Host Emilia Kefford, granddaughter of VFFF's founder, Sir Vincent Fairfax, speaks directly to changemakers supported through VFFF’s Backing Young People strategy. These conversations shine a light on their challenges, achievements, and what it takes to truly effect change. The podcast also emphasizes the intersection of philanthropy and grassroots changemakers, showcasing how strategic giving can catalyze lasting impact.
This first six-episode season highlights the impactful journeys of Backing the Future grant recipients Bevis Masson-Leach, Callum Champagne, Jameson Harvey, Rizina Y. and Sarah Chapman FRACI. They share their experiences delivering projects that seek to create the conditions for young people to thrive in rural and regional QLD and NSW. We highly recommend watching the season trailer featuring these changemakers here.
Emilia Kefford, who is passionate about family philanthropy, shares her unique perspective on supporting community initiatives as part of VFFF’s Board and Grants Committee.
“We are incredibly proud of the work our Backing the Future grant recipients are doing to transform their communities, Stories of Giving and Receiving is an opportunity to amplify their stories and inspire others to get involved in creating positive change.”

About Backing the Future
The Backing the Future grants, delivered in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), provide $50,000 to support early-stage projects led by individuals or groups that are not typically eligible for traditional philanthropic funding. These grants focus on projects benefiting young people in regional New South Wales and Queensland, with an emphasis on fostering innovation and empowering changemakers to create lasting, positive impacts in their communities.
The next round of Backing the Future opens 17 January 2024 for applicants in QLD.
