It takes a town

It Takes a Town arose from recognition that while many years of child-centred service delivery has made a positive impact in the lives of many families, it has not been enough to arrest deepening disadvantage in the Murwillumbah region.

Australian Futures Project

$263,000 to facilitate agriculture sector engagement to identify and design three actions or innovations to support the viability of agriculture in NSW.

Primary Ethics

Primary Ethics was founded by St James Ethics Centre in 2010 after the NSW Government tasked it with delivering ethics education in primary schools.

Jesuit Social Services

$60,000 towards ‘Dropping off the Edge’, a research initiative mapping social disadvantage across Australia.

Australian Museum Trust

$108,472 over two years towards a pilot education program providing positive cultural experiences to indigenous young people in custody.


Getting a licence is a game-changer – and for some more than others. This grant established the Maranguka Driving Licensing Initiative, as part of the Justice Reinvestment work in Bourke.

Human Rights Law Centre

VFFF supported HRLC’s efforts with Indigenous partner organisations to address the over-imprisonment of Indigenous children.

Humanitarian Hub

$340,000 to coordinate volunteer management to better meet the needs of people seeking asylum in NSW.

Hastings District Respite Care

$261,214 over three years to develop and implement a new dementia service model using Montessori principles.


$200,000 over three years to establish the CareerSeekers New Australian Internship Program.

The Social Outfit

The Social Outfit is a social enterprise based in Newtown, Sydney. It uses fashion to provide training and employment for people from refugee and new migrant communities in the greater Sydney area.

Story Factory

$106,666 to employ a grant writer, building fundraising capacity to enable the establishment of a new centre in Parramatta, Western Sydney.
