Our Impact

Our Strategy

Backing Young People (2021-2026) is the culmination of a strategic review process involving extensive sector consultation, deep research and internal analysis and reflection. This process determined that:

  • A focus on young people* is well-aligned with the history, values and grant-making experience of VFFF. A strategy centred on young people will build upon the almost 60% of funding distributed to youth-focused initiatives between 2018 and 2021.
  • Young people face unique and substantial social, environmental and economic challenges.
  • Granting in the youth space provides real and compelling opportunities to effect change and back young people to shape better futures.

The Foundation commissioned research partners whose work informed the development of three new grant making focus areas: Decent Work, Caring for the Environment and Contributing to Society, alongside our continuing youth-focused Christianity focus area.

The infographic below provides an overview of the strategy for Backing Young People. Each of the four focus areas has a funding goal and specific funding outcomes that VFFF grants seek to achieve.
