Vincent Fairfax Fellowship: 30 years of impact
This year is a significant milestone for the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship as it marks its 30th year. Created to honour Sir Vincent Fairfax, the program was developed to encourage the development of ethical leadership and moral courage in Australia. 30 years later, the program is more relevant than ever, as explained in this short video where both the Program Director and some alumni of the program share their reflections.
The descendants of Sir Vincent are looking forward to celebrating the achievements of the program over the past three decades at a series of events in November, hosted by the current delivery partner of the program, Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership (CCEL).
To kick off the celebrations, Edward Santow will deliver the annual Sir Vincent Fairfax Oration. Ed co-founded the Human Technology Institute at UTS and is a sought-after voice on the topics of digital disruption and innovation, including ethical adoption of AI and its regulation. Prior to joining UTS, Ed was Australia's Human Rights Commissioner from 2016-2021, so is well placed to speak to the ethical considerations leaders face in regard to the development, use, regulation and oversight of new technology.
The following day, alumni of the program will have the opportunity to gather for a Fellows’ Assembly, where a multi-media anthology sharing the insights from 30 years of the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship will be launched. This event will also provide a forum to remind alumni of the collective wisdom of the Fellowship community and what a valuable resource this is in their own leadership journey.
The window for applications to be part of the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship 2026 is closing soon. Details on the program and how to apply is available here.
