Next Gen Blueprint

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) has been a trusted partner to VFFF on several occasions, including in the catalytic, place-based Investing in Rural Community Futures (IRCF) pilot and in the ongoing delivery of VFFF’s Backing the Future grants program.

The Next Gen Blueprint – FRRR’s latest initiative supported by VFFF – emerged from this trust-based relationship and a shared vision for rural, regional and remote communities, where young people have the resources and opportunities to shape better futures.

This is a three-year initiative designed to strengthen community collaboration and elevate youth impact by fostering shared purpose and intergenerational leadership. Intergenerational leadership is all about generations designing, deciding and doing side by side. It’s not about handing over or holding on, but sharing power, learning together and taking responsibility across age and experience to shape the future of each community.

To shape this work, FRRR are seeking input to uncover what capabilities need to grow – both in young people and in established leaders – to make intergenerational leadership possible, and they are inviting anyone who wants to be part of the conversation to connect with them.

Across VFFF’s Contributing to Society focus area, empowering young people to influence decisions that matter to them often requires systemic change to create space for genuine engagement and shared decision-making.

VFFF is thrilled to walk alongside FRRR in this new approach to equipping young people to step up and lead change in their communities.
