VFFF recognises that backing young people means listening and responding to their needs, priorities and insights. Acknowledging the need to practice what we preach, VFFF began exploring avenues to embed youth representation into our decision-making structures. Philanthropy is at its best when working alongside those communities it seeks to support – and a Youth Advisory Group offered an opportunity to incorporate youth voices into the grant making process for Backing Young People.

Holding Steady in Philanthropy – the First Steps Count Child and Community Centre

At that time, our early place-based work had identified Taree as an area of need and opportunity, and we had come across a local working group, led by Rosemary Sinclair. Q&A: Deadly Inspiring Youth Doing Good
